By interstellar standards the Shield class of system defence boats are extremely slow, and with their tech level 7 sensor suites are no match for even a small interstellar raider. However when used to enforce regulations against the Austen systems indigenous craft the vessels are effective. Performance is also sometimes enhanced through the use of external strap on boosters.
